Free reading incentive program

Braum's Book Buddy is a free reading incentive program for children in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The program aims to help children develop a love for reading and typically runs from October through the end of the school year. Each child can earn up to six Braum's ice cream treats per school year by reading.

The program works by having the teacher distribute Braum's Book Buddy booklets and monitor book reading. For each book read, the teacher places a Book Buddy sticker in the student's booklet. When a student has read six books, the teacher rewards them with a coupon for a free treat. The prize coupon is only valid once the teacher fills it out with the child's name, school name, and signature.

To participate, a homeschool must have students in the eligible grades and must be located within 30 miles of a Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Store, with NO EXCEPTIONS. Enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis until supplies run out, and every school must re-enroll every year. The prize coupons for each student include two Single-Dip Ice Cream Cones, two Small Soft Frozen Yogurt Cones, one Kid's Meal, and one Single-Dip Sundae.

If the enrollment period has ended for the current year, families can submit a waiting list form. If supplies remain after initial orders are filled, the farm will work to fill waiting list orders, which will not be known until sometime in October. All orders for the entire school should be placed by ONE representative.
