About This Deal

Alford Family Farm is a U-Pick berry farm in East Texas, which is close enough to the DFW area to make visiting a nice family day out. The farm's berries and other produce are grown using organic methods, ensuring they are safe for families to eat right off the vine. The farm offers U-Pick Blueberries and Blackberries starting May 30th at 8:00 a.m.

The blueberries grown are mostly Rabbit eye varieties that ripen in June, including Tifblue, Climax, Powder Blue, Brightwell, and Premier. The blackberries are thornless and are expected to ripen shortly after the blueberries, though production may be limited, so visitors should check before coming. The farm stresses that they use no chemicals or pesticides on anything edible.

Beyond the berries, the farm also grows heirloom tomatoes, okra, and cucumbers, which are available during the U-Pick season. Other products include potted iris, jellies, jams, pecans, and honey. Muscadine grapes are harvested in August and pecans in the Fall, and the farm also sells Bonsai trees.
